Last month we threw Lix a second birthday party revolving around his most prized possession & favorite activity, his lawnmower! It is the first thing he asks to do when he wakes up, he requires us to put it in the trunk when going on outings, and stops him dead in his tracks when he hears one. For these very reasons it was a no-brainer party theme choice! It was a perfect theme for a two year old party, the kids had an absolute blast!
I still am having a hard time wrapping my brain around the fact that he is TWO years old, I think I mentioned twelve times “his first birthday” whenever I was dicussing the party to others. Speaking of his first birthday party, it was a Luau, you can read more about that here!
It’s so special having their birthday parties at our home (my feelings may change on this in a few years ha!). All jokes aside, I love to entertain, it was such a beautiful day.
I designed his invitation and then uploaded it into paperless post, they were simple yet adorable!
We hosted it as a brunch which worked perfectly with nap time. I really enjoy making the food, and always end up doing most of the prep the night before.
On the menu I serverd quiche, turkey sausage bread, cinnamon roll casserole, tater tots, pancakes and fruit!
For theme oriented snacks there were dirt worm truffles, thin mint & birthday cookie crip cereal for landscape pebbles, twizzlers for weed walker twine, compost cups made out of hummus and vegetables, and lawn cupcakes.
It’s always cute to have a little fun with word play on party staples like coffee, water and mimosas!
For favors, I had a last minute idea to have my kids plant grass seed in mini solo cups. They had a blast doing this, and after the party, really enjoyed caring for and watching it grow!
Additionally, Felix sent guests home some insanely adorable (and delicious) lawnmower cookies from Butterdreamery Bake Shop!
For activities the pool was open for swimming, and I had three mower stations lined up along the fence.
The first being the MOW WASH station. I went to the dollar store purchased a caddy and filled it with carwash sponges, brushes, rags. Next to it, I filled a bucket with water and had a lawn mower ready to get squeaky clean! This was a fan favorite!!
The second station was a MOW TUNE-UP station. I used the kids tool sets that we already had and brought them outside next to a mower.
The last station was a MOW RACE. This was a big hit at the end of the party, great idea for kids 2-6 years old. Heck I even got in on a few races!
The kids also did a piñata because when is that not a good idea? I filled it with crasians, glow in the dark bracelets, and a few handfuls of miniature chocolate bars.
I kept the decor super simple. Blew up a few balloons, and I printed out pictures of Felix from through out the year. It is always so much fun to look back on the memories and how much they have grown!
I hope you enjoyed a little glimpse into the fulfilled day, we are so grateful for all those that celebrated out little man from both near and far!
xoxo,
Jenny
