I finally got around to completing our guest room, and let’s just say I find myself going to hang out in there all the time! It has been on my to do list for some time now and it feels so good to have it completed. My goal was to make it a both a retreat, and a “home alway from home” for all of our family and friends that come to stay.

This Dresser from Ameriwood Home’s Vaughn line was the first piece I found for the space. As I mentioned here, when decorating a room I like to find a piece of furniture or art to give me inspiration to build off of. This dresser was just that for me, I love the structure and timeless mid-centry design. Be sure to leave the drawers empty (or at least a few) for your vistors!
The rug which I feel truly pulls the room all together is from NuLOOM. I love colors, and the fringe edge is so dreamy! They have such a great selection of rugs and you can’t beat their prices.
My gold queen bed is from DHP furniture and is definitely the focal point of the room. I am obsessed with the structure, it is so unique and also comes in different colors as well! We have their Manila king bed frame in our master bedroom and absolutely adore it. I love how it comes with the ability to have it at two different heights, and the fact that you don’t need a box spring for either of these! DHP’s line of furniture is so affordable, and amazing quality!
Let’s talk about the night stands. These babies are made from trees that were in my in-laws backyard! A ton of blood and sweat from my husband, father-in-law and myself went into making them. I actually learned to sand and plane wood on these!
The gorgeous wooden bench is actually a coffee table our dear friend made us for our first home we bought in Baltimore. Spreading meaningful pieces throughout my home is one of my favorite things to do!
I scored the awesome rattan chair and bar cart set at our neighborhood garage sale! They couldn’t be better finishing touches for the space! I utilized the cart for guest towels, fancy bathroom amenities (I am currently loving this exfoliating soap and these bath bombs), fresh flowers, a google home mini, and a journal which holds the wi-fi code and a place for those that stay to leave a note or memory!
I always want whomever is staying with us to feel comfortable, at home, and be able to help themselves to anything! I feel a big part of this is trying to think of anything special your guests like or might need ahead of time, and have it readily available for them!
Other items to make your visitors feel at home:
1. Spare hangers in the closet
2. Extra pillows & throws
3. Spare set of keys
4. Water bottles
5. Over the counter medicine
6. Reading materials
7. Robe & slippers
8. Hamper so they don’t have to put dirty towels/linens on the floor.
What’s your favorite thing to have on hand when your alway from home? I’ll add it to my list!
Thanks for stopping by!
Xoxo,
Jenny
