One year ago marks the week I scrambled to pack up 7 years worth of memories in Baltimore, MD. I'm sure you will all agree that moving can be stressful. Add in my 5 month pregnant self and our sweet, yet very energetic, 11 month old daughter Elin Victoria (EV) and you have an idea of how it was going!
I remember feeling so overwhelmed, exhausted, sad, happy, and under prepared all in one (I am sure the hormones didn't help)! I do have to add that it really is amazing what you can accumulate and store in a 1,000 sq foot row home over the years haha!! Of course moving day JUST happened to be a no morning nap day for EV (it always works like that, am I right?). Thank goodness for my husband, the best of friends, my sister in law, and some VERY patient movers as they helped me pull myself together. I truly wouldn't have been able to tie up all the loose ends without them as Drew (my husband) had to scoot out and follow the movers.
The departure was a bit like a movie, EV and I in the car while my friends waved at us standing in front of our beloved row home. Naturally, I was crying like a baby while simultaneously wondering how the trip was going to go as I had never gone on one of this length with just the two of us. Luckily, the morning sans nap worked out in my favor and Elin slept almost the whole way #momwin! Seeing as both Drew and I are originally from Upstate NY our families put on quite the welcome committee upon our arrival-which I needed more than anything...
Fast forward a year of amazing memories later, my favorite being the birth of our sweet baby boy Felix, and we are adjusting quite well to suburbia life as a family of four! It sure has been a transition from city life (especially being a SAHM), but the absolute best decision for us and I wouldn't want it any other way.
"Charm City" will always have my heart, it is the holder of my greatest memories. It was where we got married, where we bought our first home, where our daughter was born and the keeper of some of our greatest friends. For these things, I thank you Baltimore!
xoxo
